Team Notes
The Gang's All Here
(02/2006) "With much regret my organization will be leaving Tijuana. There has been an increase in fans getting drunk, picking on bulls and getting the worse of it. There has also been issues with fans going into Go Go bars and beating the dancers. Usually their own sisters which is kind of pissing El Presidente off. I love the fans and their support here in Tijuana and am very pleased that I was able to provide a product they enjoyed but the government gives me no choice but to leave. AH! But before I leave... a salute. Mexico raise your Coronas...... Gracias Mis Amigos!!!"

Patrick Keogh of the Boston Globe reports - Tijuana Banditos owner Paul Barbosa, in a very emotional Press Conference, announced that he and his organization will move the team to South Boston, and rename the team the South Boston Gang -- a tribute to Frank Wallace of the Irish Mob called the Gustin Gang. Already there is speculation about his move and the tribute to Frank Wallace.

In 1991 Barbosa owned the Newark Crimewave who played in New Jersey but only lasted a year before moving. There was word of his involvement with money laundering and racketeering. There were court appearances but he was never convicted. Yes there is an unease about this move in the people of Boston but we must give the chap a chance.

Hillbillies move
(10/17) After poor fan support in their second season, Kentucky Hillbillies owner Paul Barbosa announced that he will move the team to Tijuana, Mexico, and rename the team the Tijuana Banditos. Barbosa met with Mexican president Vicente Fox and announced the move at a press conference. "We are very happy to finally have a DMBL team in Mexico" said Fox. The Banditos are the third international team in the DMBL, along with Vatican City and Vancouver. This is not the first international endeavor for Barbosa. In 1997, Barbosa entered the league with the Lisbon Diabos from Portugal, though he later sold the team to investors in Philadelphia and the team became known as the Eagle Wings. "Portugal just couldn't get behind baseball" said Barbosa in a 1998 interview.
