Barry Bonds of Arkansas tied Mark McGwire's career home run record (381) on April 5, slamming a two-run shot off Vancouver's Sean Lowe after John Olerud walked in the fourth inning. The Iron Fist, though, went on to win, 6-4 at the IronDome. The next day, in a home run derby game against Sammy Sosa, Bonds tagged the historic 382nd homer off Brandon Lyon in the fifth inning after Lyon plunked Lance Berkman. Again, the Iron Fist won, 6-5, in 12 innings.

Columbia's Kevin Appier went six innings for a no decision against Carolina on April 6, but in the process passed John Smoltz for seventh all-time in games started with 244.

Appier's teammate, Jeff Shaw, became the sixth closer in DMBL history to reach triple digits. Shaw went the last 1 2/3 innings in a 4-3 victory over the Sharks at Crusader Park on April 7. Shaw saved a 5-3 come-from-behind win at The Shark Tank the next night for save No. 101, tying him with John Wettleland for fifth all-time. He passed Wettleland to claim the fifth spot all by himself when shut down the Wolverines in order in the ninth to preserve a 3-2 victory at home on Thursday.

Hoboken's Brian Giles became the fourth player this season to hit his 100th career home run, launching a solo shot in the 9th inning of a 6-4 win on April 8 at Stanhope Stadium. His eighth dinger of the year came off Al Levine.

Shawn Green of Honolulu also joined the 100 Club, a week after Giles. He had a two-homer game on Wednesday in a 4-1 win at the Dragon's Lair. He homered off Jamie Moyer to lead off the sixth for No. 100 and then led off the eighth with a shot off Jeff Nelson to go over the century mark.

David Wells of Phoenix made the 200th start of his DMBL career. In the April 11 game, 8 1/3 innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on nine hits but got a no decision. The Dragons lost, 6-4, to Brooklyn.

Pedro Martinez of Arkansas also made his 200th career start. In one of his better outings this season, Martinez went seven innings, yielding two runs on five hits while striking out eight. He got a no-decision as the Golden Falcons won, 4-3, in 12 innings at Quisenberry Memorial Park.
