Wanaque shortstop Alex Rodriguez has been among the hottest hitters in the DMBL of late. He collected his 200th career home run during a torrid stretch to end June. Rodriguez pounded Hoboken's Adam Eaton three times - in the first, fifth and seventh innings - his third being No. 200. The Wolverines still lost though, 6-5, at The Quarry June 14. All of A-Rod's homers that day came with the bases empty.

Columbia's Kevin Appier has the uncanny distinction of being the first DMBL pitcher to reach 100 career losses. The inglorious feat came in a 7-1 loss against Wanaque on June 2. Appier fell to 3-9 on the year after allowing seven hits and seven runs in 4 1/3 innings while hitting a batter and uncorking a wild pitch.

Hoboken second baseman Roberto Alomar became only the second player to steal 200 bases in a career. He swiped his seventh of the year, and No. 200 lifetime, off Barry Zito of Carolina. In a double steal, Alomar reached third base while all-star catcher Mike Piazza brought up the rear, grabbing second base, off A.J. Pierzynski. The Cutters went on to win at home, 5-1, on June 4.

Stanhope's Mariano Rivera made his 45th appearance of the season June 16, saving a 3-1 win against Brooklyn. It was the 391st appearance of his career, passing John Wettleland for No. 7 all-time.

Another storied closer who continues moving up the list is Trevor Hoffman of Arkansas. He's figured back into the Golden Falcons' bullpen after early season struggles. He made his 19th appearance July 7, passing Randy Myers with his 401st appearance, fifth all-time. Hoffman earned the save in a 5-0 shutout of Stanhope, going 1 2/3 innings. In his 21st appearance, Hoffman passed Stan Belinda at 402 to move up to 4th place. It was an impressive outing too. He struck out the final four batters to preserve a 4-3 win versus Newark on June 24.

Vancouver second basement Jeff Kent recorded the 1,000th hit of his DMBL career in a 6-0 against Brooklyn June 24. His fourth-inning double scored Jimmy Rollins. He also added a single earlier in the game.

Harrison's Javier Lopez reached 1,000 hits June 29, in a 7-5 loss against Vancouver. The Rats' catcher singled off Joe Mays during a five-run sixth inning to drive home Mike Lamb.
