News & Notes from the local Newspaper
THE F.U. HERALD:
(2/5/09) The DMB has moved from sunny
Tampa Bay to the dark nights of Amityville. It's a new era
with some young blood. In order to train these young bucks
new manager Harmon Killebrew will look to bring some good
ol' fashioned discipline to the club house. Killebrew was
quoted saying with a evil grin, “These vets can't be
trained, we need to start fresh. Breaking them in is the fun
part” After a brief meeting between Owner Nick Pucci and
Manager Harmon Killebrew, there were no secrets as to who
was on the chopping block.
Out with the old and in with the new: In their first trade
of the off season on 11/11/08 Amityville brought in some
young talent at pitching and traded away 1st Baseman Adrian
Gonzalez for future HOF'ER John Lester. Only 8 days later
Amityville made their second trade with the Endzone Animals
trading away their 2009 6th Round draft pick for Catcher
Dioner Navarro. Navarro is a young stud who will provide a
lot of extra base hits and a high AVG & OBP. To sweeten
the roster even more, Amityville acquired future All-Star
second baseman Kelly Johnson and Garrett Atkins. These
future All-Stars were brought in to rake against lefties.
The trend will not end there as the draft will be a tool for
Amityville to pick many more future All-Stars.
The Fans: Amityville has a strong following of
dedicated fans who call themselves The Anarchy. Loyal, rowdy
vocal and tough best describes these arbiters. The voice of
The Anarchy will be heard soon enough! and to think they
have rabid fans in Philly...HA.
Final Notes: Some people believe respect is earned
whereas the Ant Slayers believe respect is taken with blunt
force. Some rivalries are on the rise and look forward to
taking on the Mudcats although they sank ship this past
season and have yet to prove themselves worthy. If you too
want to finish as a consistent Wild Card loser, become a
Mudcat. After the season ended The Endzone Animals Owner was
taken away by EMS to stop his head from swelling for
finishing over .500. In other news Frankie Ravioli was
traded for a meatball. One question to Stump the “Deputy
Commissioner” is Golden Falcons code for suck another year?
