Team Notes
Sharks Celebrate
(8/24/05) - After the team's victory on 8/22/05, which earned the Sharks it's third playoff birth in as many years, team owner Adam Kozubal decided that the team could use a little extra luck this year. He had the Hawaiian ritual of huikala ( a spiritual cleansing and blessing of good fortune) placed on the team and then bestowed each of the team members with a lei as a gesture of congratulations on the team's accomplishment.

In a press conference held after the game, team manager Gary Carter was quoted as saying "I'm very happy for the guys! They worked hard all year and deserve this. On a more personal level, it makes me happy to prove all the critics wrong once again." It is assumed that Carter was refering to the predictions made by the Swami, as well as the annual leage sims that are produced. While both predicted that the sharks would not make the playoffs, the team devoured the simulated predictions of wins, losses, runs for, runs against, and run margain.

When asked about the team's performance against the sims, star pitcher Jason Schmidt was quoted as saying "I don't know who this Pythagoras guy is, but he can shove it!"

Hampton returns
Starting pitcher Mike Hampton seemingly disappeared after his last outing, apparently disgusted with his performance. Teammates could not find him anywhere in the locker room nor could they reach him on his cell phone. "We were starting to get worried when we found his street clothes still in his locker" said manager Gary Carter. Teammate Jason Giambi recalled seeing a quick flash of light coming from the locker room but attributed it to reporters trying to snap pictures of the pitcher. Hampton appeared Wednesday in the locker room and acted as if nothing happened. "What do you mean it's not Sunday anymore?" asked the obviously confused Hampton. Hampton was taken for precautionary examinations, but nothing was revealed and the pitcher is slated to make his next start.
