Liriano to take 2008 off
(11/27/07) Kennesaw, GA -

Francisco Liriano, the latest Pat Listach Rookie of the Year award winner in Diamond Mind Baseball, will miss the entire 2008 season after being granted a leave from the team by owner and general manager David Landsman.

"Frankie pitched his heart out for us this year," said Landsman, "I bought him a 12 month cruise around the world. Of course he will be working out and keeping his arm in shape, but the Mighty Men are all about protecting our young arms and we think this is the best way to put Frankie in a position to be successful with our franchise for many years to come."

Landsman continued when asked about how Liriano's absence would affect the team in 2008 and the rumors that Liriano's health was not 100%, "My advisors and I have conferenced at length about this and we feel that this is the best way for Frankie to hea- I mean rehab... I mean get ready for 2009."

Later in the interview Landsman denied that the cruise made port in Alabama. Dr. James Andrews could not be reached for comment.

Moving Minors
(3/18/07) Kennesaw, GA - Matthew's Mighty Men of Marietta announced that they have signed all new minor league affiliates. Owner and General manager David Landsman was quotes as saying, "It is simply a matter of geography. Mt Olive, Stroudsburg, Newton and Hckettstown all treated the Mighty Men franchise very well, but if we need to make moves I don't want my playersto have to travel 1000 miles to get to Marietta." Marietta's rookie team is moving to Ellijay, GA and will be known as the Ellijay Elks. the single A squad will be known as the Peachtree City Peaches and reside in Peachtree City, GA. The double A team will be known as the Acworth Alligators and reside in Acworth, GA. The triple A team will be housed in Kennesaw, GA and be known as the Kennesaw Kangaroos. "Hopefully this will be the last orgnizational move for a long while," said Landsman, "but you never know."
